Khushi Baby is a non-profit startup working in partnership with the Rajasthan Department of Health and Family Welfare to advance maternal and child health in underserved rural and urban communities.Based in Udaipur, we have designed, developed, implemented, and evaluated a novel platform for tracking health at the last mile, which makes use of Near Field Communication technology for decentralized health records.

The Khushi Baby system has been used to track the health of over 30,000 mothers and children across 400 rural villages continuously over the last 3 years. Our 2-year, 3200-mother randomized controlled trial showed that mothers randomized to the Khushi Baby system were 1.66 times more likely to fully immunize their child and 24% less likely to have a child suffer from moderate acute malnutrition. The KB system has also been directly used to facilitate referrals for successful course completion for over 150 infants suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition.

Now this work, which began as a Yale classroom public health project, is being scaled up from the grassroots level in Udaipur to five Districts and across 407 urban Janta Clinics across Rajasthan. This effort under the ‘Nirogi Rajasthan’ initiative aims to empower over 13000 frontline health workers with mHealth tools and to reach 10 lakh beneficiaries next year

To reach this next stage of impact, our team of 30 stakeholder managers, public health operators, engineers, data scientists, designers, and field monitors must duly expand. We are hiring a mission-oriented Public Health Manager who can deliver on:
